Basketball!

It's been awhile since I have posted anything here. Life has just been soooo busy. Em has been sick and then we all passed it around. We have been going to 2 or 3 basketball games a week. My niece plays for the local high school basketball team. She is a senior and since this is her last year we have been to every game. I love to watch her play and we want to support her. If you know anything about basketball, you will understand that it is pretty tense right now. It's do or die time and any loss will end your season. We had 3 games last week. They were fight tooth and nail games. We have another one of those kind of games tomorrow night. Once the season is over, I will have some more time on my hands.
I want them to go as far as they can. They have made me so proud this past week. They played with heart and soul. They played as a team and they all gave 110% for every game they played. I admire them all for handling the stress. They are a great group of girls and I am praying for them.

The Great Blizzard of 2010

Snow is coming!
That is all we have heard about over the last few days. I will refer to it as the Great Blizzard of 2010. Apparently, the Great Blizzard of 2010 was an important topic at Claire's school yesterday. They were all so excited about the snow coming and a snow day. Claire's teacher must have been excited about a snow day too because she taught them the "snow dance". Claire jumped around the house all night doing the "snow dance". She didn't want to finish any homework or study for her spelling test. I MADE her finish her homework and study. She bounced down the stairs in her pj's. I looked at her and realized that she was wearing her pj's wrong side out. She informed me that Ms. Laura (her teacher) told her to do this so they would have a snow day tomorrow. I giggled and left her alone. She was so cute and excited that I hoped it would work.
It took me forever to get her to sleep. I had to yell at her and say "okay, if it doesn't snow and you have to go to school you are going to feel awful!". I finally got her to sleep at 1030pm. Her usual bedtime is 9 or 930pm. I fell asleep on the couch waiting on Chris to come home from Dyersburg. His job requires him to travel all hours of the night.
Chris was home around 130am and we went to bed. I didn't set my alarm because I really thought it would snow. This was a mistake because Chris didn't set his alarm either. I was awakened at 715am and looked outside. Guess what... No snow or at least not enough for them to call off school. I hurried to wake Claire up, we were running late now. She was so upset, crying because she wanted to stay home. I really did feel bad for her. She didn't get to stay home and now we were late. It was all very disappointing. I tried to get her spirits up by saying you have Drama Club this afternoon. "I don't want to go to Drama!" was her reply with tears in her eyes.
Oh well, to be a kid again. I ushered Chris and Claire out the door. Hopefully Claire will have a good day and get over the disappointment of The Great Blizzard of 2010.

Sleep is overrated

I would love to be sleeping right now. After a long night of work, I got home and crawled into my warm cozy bed at 10am. I know this because Live with Regis and Kelly was going off. I can usually tell time by whatever is on TV. Does this mean that I'm addicted to TV? Probably but that's not the point.
So, I tried to sleep but little things just kept waking me up. It was just enough to make me turn over and look at the clock. Emma was knocking on my door and yelling Momma at 1145am. I heard a door shut at 1230pm. Another door and Emma yelling as she slammed the door at 125pm. I have to wake up at 2pm so that the babysitter can leave. I am so fortunate to have a woman that comes to my house on the days I need to sleep and stay with Emma. Overwise, I most definately would have died from sleep deprivation a long, long time ago. It usually means that if I don't get into bed by
8am then 2pm comes quick.
The alarm goes off at 2pm and I feel like I've been hit by a mack truck. Was the sleep that I did received really worth it? Let's calculate....10am to 2pm is 4hrs. I was awakened 3 times in 4 hrs. Nope, I don't think so but I could not go back to work tonight without it. Maybe sleep isn't overrated at all. I'll let you know at 3am

A New Year and The Beginning

Okay, so today I found a blog that I really liked reading. I decided to start one of my own. Not that anybody would ready about my life. I mean, there isn't anything important going on and I really don't have anything significant to say. I enjoy reading about other people and their path thru life. I thought to myself that maybe others are like me. It is the start of a new year and so here I am writing about this. I've always liked to write and would love to find some creative outlet.

First, I should probably tell about myself. I am a 31 yo wife and mother. I have a wonderful workaholic hubby and 2 beautiful daughters. Claire is 9 and Emma is 19 months. They are wonderful girls and I love them so much. We have a great family...notice I don't say perfect. We are not perfect. My kids try me everyday. Claire told me yesterday that she is ready to go back to school and get away from me. LOL... little does she know that the feeling is mutual. I am tired of having to entertain her and the baby all the time. She has done nothing but talk the whole time she has been off from school. Sometimes I just want to yell SHUT UP! She is constantly over my shoulder and questions everything. She thinks she is a teenager but then acts like a baby too. It's all about what she wants at the time. School starts back tomorrow-YES!

I am a nurse at a small hospital and I love my job. I work in a labor and delivery unit. I get to help women have their babies and take care of them. My job and my family are huge parts of my life. I have been a nurse for 5 years in May. It was the best decision I made (with the help of my husband). He told me to go into nursing and I listened.

He is pretty smart (just don't tell him that) and I'm thankful for him. We have been married for 10 years. I can't believe that I am that old. Why is it that the years seem to drag when you are young but fly by when you are old? I wish I could make time stop. One for myself and two of my kids. They are growing too fast. I worked New Years Eve and at midnight I was walking down the hallway. I was thinking to myself about the years. In 10 more years I will be 41. I can't believe it-41, it just sounds soooo old. My kids will be 19 and 11. We will have grown-up kids. Really? How can that be? It just seems like we just had our Wedding Day. I still love him as much today as I did then. I am looking forward to growing old with him. Guess I'm already on my way :)
